Empowering Transgender Youth and Families: Stand with Trans Expands Support Nationwide

Stand with Trans, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering transgender youth and their families, continues its mission to provide life-saving resources, education, and support across the nation. While many of our services focus on Michigan, our commitment to advocacy and education extends nationwide, and we invite the LGBTQ+ community and allies in Wichita, Kansas, to join us in making a difference.

Our Mission: Stand with Trans was founded in 2015 with a mission to empower and support transgender youth and their loved ones through affirming resources, education, and community-building. Our services help families navigate their journey with confidence, ensuring that every transgender person feels seen, supported, and celebrated.

How to Get Involved: Individuals and organizations in Wichita and across Kansas can get involved with Stand with Trans in several impactful ways:

  • Join Our Community Connections Support Groups: Community Connections is our dedicated space for support groups, welcoming individuals of all ages and backgrounds. These virtual and in-person groups are designed to create safe spaces for connection and growth:
    • The Treehouse: A group for trans and non-binary kids ages 9-12.
    • The Arcade: A space for trans and non-binary youth ages 13-17.
    • The Lounge: For trans and non-binary individuals ages 18-24.
    • The Cafe: A support group for parents and caregivers of trans and non-binary youth.
  • Support Our Therapy Services: Stand with Trans recently launched culturally competent mental health therapy services for youth, parents, caregivers, and allies. These affirming therapy sessions are vital in addressing the urgent mental health needs within the community. (ONLY AVAILABLE IN MICHIGAN)
  • Explore Our Transgender Lifeline Library: Our online library provides accessible resources on transgender health, identity, and support, making essential information available to all.
  • Attend Our Annual Transgender Empowerment Month: Every October, we host Transgender Empowerment Month, a series of educational events, workshops, and celebrations focused on uplifting and empowering the transgender community.
  • Make a Difference: Community members can support Stand with Trans by making a donation, volunteering, or participating in advocacy efforts to help create a safer and more inclusive world for transgender people.

Why It Matters: 50% of LGBTQ+ youth who sought mental health care last year were unable to access it. Additionally, nearly half of transgender and non-binary young people seriously considered suicide. Stand with Trans is working to change that by providing direct support and affirming care. Every contribution makes a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
